5900 Series Universal Testing Systems up to 50 kN
The 5940 single column and 5960 dual column universal testing systems are designed to perform tensile, compression, flexure/bend, peel, tear, shear, and cyclic tests. These table model testing machines are available in force capacities that range from 0.02 N (2 gf) up to 50 kN.
Throughout 2020, the 5940 and 5960 Series systems will be replaced by the 3400 and 6800 Series table models (up to 50 kN) - Instron's next generation universal testing systems. Please contact your local sales engineer for availability in your region during this transition. Both the 5940 and 5960 Series systems are in Phase 1 of the Instron product life cycle, meaning these frames are still in full production and service support for hardware is available, as well as hardware and parts.

The 5940 and 5960 Series frames remain compatible with our extensive selection of accessories, including grips, fixtures, load cells, extensometers, environmental chambers, torsion add-on, automated XY stage, auto-injector testing system, and many other frame accessories. The 5900 controller allows for the addition of digital I/O channels to connect external devices and add up to 11 +/- 10V channels.
